British Columbia Ranches Introduction
It's where the Great Northwest and the Old West meet. The rugged landscapes of British Columbia have long been home to trappers, mountain men, lumberjacks . . . and cowboys. Their companions? The grizzly bear, moose, caribou, and towering red cedar.

It's a place with a storybook past. Captain Cook set foot here in 1778, then came the British fur traders of the Hudson Bay Company. A few years later somebody struck gold, and the rush was on. Ranchers of the Old West made their mark too, with vast spreads tucked away in the most scenic valleys of the Canadian Rockies.
Today, British Columbia is where folks come for a different kind of getaway: one that combines relaxation and old-fashioned adventure. Of course, some folks come just to see the way things used to be. No doubt, the best way to experience all of it is with a dude ranch vacation north of the border. Here you can enjoy everything the old west has to offer with the added benefits of a favorable U.S. to Canadian dollar exchange rate, convenient air service, and a long and surprisingly mild spring to fall season.
