Barre Falls Dam
The streamside environment provides excellent hunting and fishing. Trout and pheasant are stocked by the State, which manages the reservoir area. From Gardner or MA 2, go S on MA 68 to MA 62, then 2 miles W to dam.
Birch Hill Dam
The Lake Dennison Recreation Area, on an 82-acre natural lake, offers campground, swim beach, and picnic area. Reservoir lands are managed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. To Lake Dennison from MA 2, US 202 N 6 miles. Dam on MA 68, 4 miles W of US 202.
Buffamville Lake
Boating, swimming, picnicking and other recreation opportunities available at the 200 acre lake and park. From Worcester, S on I-395 to exit 4W, 2 miles on Charlton Street.
Cape Cod Canal
The gateway to Cape Cod, with many nearby shops, tourist attractions and recreation facilities. State and town-managed campgrounds are located at various points next to the Canal. Area is popular for bicycling and fishing. Take I-195 from Providence, RI, or MA 3 from Boston.
Charles River Natural Valley Storage
The lands and waters of the Charles River N.V.S. offer an important addition to public recreation in Eastern Massachusetts. The 3,221 acres provide open space for hiking, canoeing, fishing, and cross-country skiing. An additional 4,882 acres of wetlands on private property are also protected from future development. Public use areas can be reached off of I-90, I-95 and I-495.
Conant Brook Dam
A streamside environment with trails for hiking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing. Hunting and fishing are also popular. From Palmer, 4 miles S on MA 32, left on Wales Road, E 1.4 miles to dam.
East Brimfield Lake
Minutes from Old Sturbridge Village, the State managed park offers facilities for picnicking, swimming and launching boats on the 260-acre lake. The reservoir area has a canoe trail, good bass fishing, and hunting. From MA Turnpike (I-90) Exit 9, take US 20 W for 2.5 miles to dam.
Hodges Village Dam
A streamside environment with trails open for hiking, snowmobiles and cross-country skiing. Town-managed tennis courts and ball fields. From Worcester, S on I-395 to Exit 4W, then .5 miles on Charlton Street, right on Howarth Road to dam.
Knightville Dam
The river and tributary streams offer excellent trout fishing and are surrounded by prime upland game habitat. A picnic area and seasonal visitor center are next to the dam. Streamside campground available for community groups by reservation (Write Project Manager, Knightville Dam, Huntington, MA 01050.) Trout and pheasant are stocked by the State, which manages a portion of the reservoir area. From Westfield, W on US 20 to Huntington, right on MA 112 N to dam.
Littleville Lake
This 275-acre lake provides excellent trout and bass fishing. A large boat ramp is available; 10 horsepower limit for boats. From Westfield, W on US 20 to Huntington, then Rt. 112, 2 miles, left on Littleville Road to the dam.
Tully Lake
West Hill Dam
The park offers swimming in a small natural pool, picnicking and hiking. Hunting and fishing are popular. Trout and pheasant are stocked by the State, which manages the undeveloped area of the reservoir. From Providence, RI or Worcester, follow MA 122 to North Uxbridge, then go E on Hartford Avenue 3 miles to dam.
Westville Lake
A large recreation area beside a 23 acre lake offers picnic sites, ball fields and lake fishing. Trout are stocked by the State. From Sturbridge, 2 miles S on MA 131, right on Wallace Rd.
