Buckhorn Lake
Beautiful, mountainous terrain in the heart of Kentucky coal country. From Hazard, 9 miles N on KY 15, 20 miles E on KY 28.
Carr Fork Lake
A scenic 710-acre lake in the rugged eastern Kentucky mountains. Located 14 miles E of Hazard on KY 15.
Cave Run Lake
The Minor Clark Fish Hatchery, one of the largest in the United States, is located below the Corps-operated dam. The U.S. Forest Service manages the lake with varied recreational opportunities. Located on KY 826 via US 60 from I-64.
Lake Cumberland
This large, deep-water lake in southern Kentucky offers a variety of attractions and activities. Cumberland Falls, located on the upstream end of the lake, is famous for its "moonbow," which can be seen on clear, moonlit nights. Restored Mill Springs Mill adds a touch of living history to an area rich in local legend. Canoeing opportunities are numerous and include the famous Big South Fork and the Rockcastle River. From Somerset, KY, 5 miles S off US 27 on Boat Dock Road.
Dale Hollow Lake
Located in the Highland Rim section of northern Tennessee and southern Kentucky, Dale Hollow's crystalline waters are ideal for virtually all water sports, including scuba diving. Houseboaters also find a haven in the clear waters and secluded coves. A Federal fish hatchery and Standing Stone State Park are nearby. From Nashville, 69 miles E on I-40, 17 miles N to TN 56, 23 miles N on TN 53 to Celina, follow signs.
Dewey Lake
Wooded hills rise some 700 feet above the lake. A full range of facilities is at Jenny Wiley State Park. From Prestonburg, 6 miles N on US 23, 3 miles NE on KY 304.
Fishtrap Lake
In rich coalfield country, steep mountains surround the project area. From Pikeville, 12 miles E on US 460, 2 miles E on KY 1789.
Grayson Lake
Vertical rock cliffs rim the lake's 40 miles of shoreline. See the well-preserved log cabin at the project and visit the caves at nearby Carter Caves State Park, 7 miles S of Grayson on KY 7.
Green River Lake
In the hills of central Kentucky. An interpretive center at the dam site acquaints the visitor with the geology, culture, and history of the area. Tebbs Bend, a Civil War battlefield area, is nearby. Located 90 miles SE of Louisville via I-65 and KY 61, 210 and 55.
Greenup Locks & Dam
Provides a 9-foot-deep navigation pool, 61.8 miles upstream to Gallipolis Locks and Dam, and is an integral link in the Ohio River navigation channel. A scenic highway crosses the facility. Located off US 23 at Greenup, KY.
Green River Locks & Dams 1 & 2
These small, old locks and dams provide a usable channel for recreational and commercial traffic on the Green River. Public facilities are not available.
Kentucky River Locks & Dams 1-4
Provides a navigational channel for commercial and recreational traffic. The river meanders through the Kentucky bluegrass area and is a favorite boating stream during the summer and fall.
Laurel River Lake
Located in the heart of Daniel Boone National Forest, this lake has clear water and excellent largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing. Recreational facilities include campgrounds, boat ramps, picnic areas, hiking trails, and more. From London, KY, 20 miles W on KY 1193.
Markland Locks & Dam
An important navigation feature in the Ohio River System. Sightseers may watch the navigation locking process. From Louisville, 50 miles E on I-71, 5 miles N on KY 227,14 miles E on KY 42 to Markland.
Martins Fork Lake
Fed by the clear waters of Martins Fork Creek, this small but attractive 340-acre lake offers excellent recreational opportunities in the scenic mountainous terrain of Harlan County, 16 miles SE of Harlan on KY 987.
McAlpine Lock & Dam
Provides a navigational channel between Louisville and Cincinnati that is an integral part of Ohio River navigation. Located off 27th St., Louisville.
Nolin River Lake
Scenic area, rich in Americana. From Brownsville, N 5 miles on KY 259, right on KY 728, follow signs.
Paintsville Lake
Located in eastern Kentucky, the lake offers boating opportunities in a rural setting. From Paintsville, 4 miles W on US 460 and SR 40.
Rough River Lake
See the old mill, in continuous operation from 1823 to 1968, located at the Falls of Rough, near Rough River State Park. From Louisville, W on US 60 to Harned, S 10 miles on KY 79.
Taylorsville Lake
Between Lexington and Louisville, near many of Kentucky's popular attractions. From Taylorsville, 3 miles E on KY 44, then 2 miles W on KY 2239 to dam.
Yatesville Lake
Located in eastern KY on Blain Creek, 6 miles W of Louisa. Construction of the dam was completed in 1991. The 2,242-acre lake offers boat ramps, with additional facilities planned for future development.
