Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is located in west-central Colorado 15 miles east of Montrose via U.S. 50 and Colo. 347. Airlines and buses serve Montrose, 15 miles west of the park, and Grand Junction, 62 miles northwest of the park. Cars can be rented in both places. To get to the north rim of the park from Montrose, use either US 50 east and CO 92 west through Curecanti National Recreation Area to Crawford, or US 50 west and CO 92 east through Delta to Crawford. From Crawford, a graveled country road goes to the north rim. The first route is 90 miles long and the second is 80 miles. Access to the north rim is closed in winter by snow.

Accessibility: Disabled accessible campsites and restrooms are available at the South Rim Campground. The visitor center and restrooms at Gunnison Point are also accessible. We recommend Tomichi Point, Chasm View, Sunset View, Big Island and High Point as the most accessible overlooks.

Lodging and Food: No overnight lodging other than camping is available within the Park. Motels, restaurants, and gas stations can be found in nearby towns, including Montrose, Olathe, Delta, Hotchkiss, Crawford, Paonia and Cimarron. Medical services, groceries, and auto repair and gasoline stations can be found in nearby communities.

During the summer light lunches, sandwiches, and souvenirs are sold at the Rim House, located at Pulpit Rock along the South Rim Drive. Other nearby stores are located along the entrance roads. Some of these sell firewood (no wood collecting is permitted in the park).
