The Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest is located in the Nantahala National Forest in western North Carolina. From Robbinsville, take NC 116 (Massye Branch Road), off NC 129, about 2 miles. At the stop sign turn right onto NC 1127 and proceed about 10 miles to Joyce Kilmer Road. Turn left at the sign to the Forest.

A picnic area and restrooms are available at trailhead parking. From April to October, a Forest Service staffer is available to answer questions and provide brochures.

Remember that as soon as you hit the trail, you are entering a designated wilderness. All mechanical forms of transport, such as bicycles, wagons, and any motorized vehicles, are prohibited.
