Charles R. Meck
Charles R. Meck has pursued his passion for fly-fishing for more than 40 years. He has fished in 25 states and three countries. He fishes year-round, dividing his time between two great places to cast a line, Pennsylvania and Arizona. In his latest book, Arizona Trout Streams and their Hatches, Charlie and co-author John Rohmer take the reader to the best trout streams and lakes in Arizona and western New Mexico, reveal the hatches likely to be found at each location, and give precise instructions on how to imitate them. They use a rating system to help you choose the best fishing spots, and offer useful information on camping, driving directions, and more.

Charlie is the author of the best-seller Pennsylvania Trout Streams and their Hatches. Among his other books are Patterns, Hatches, Tactics and Trout, and Mid-Atlantic Trout Streams and Their Hatches. He is a regular contributor to magazines such as Pennsylvania Angler, Mid-Atlantic Fly Fishing Guide, Fly Fisherman and to the web site The Virtual Flyshop.

John Rohmer is a long-time Arizonan who has fished all over the state, as well as the western U.S. from Canada to Mexico. He has been tying flies for more than thirty years and teaches a flytying class at his fishing shop in Tempe, Arizona.

Charlie and John were guests on GORP's forum from Jan. 4 through Jan. 25, 1999. Read Flyfishing the Verde Valley: Red rocks and rising trout in North-Central Arizona, an excerpt from Arizona Trout Streams and Their Hatches. Ask Charlie and John about the best of the uncrowded rivers and streams in Arizona and western New Mexico. Find out everything you need to know about successful year-round flyfishing. Also, discuss with the two fisherman the threats facing Arizona streams, including the enormous boom in the human population in Maricopa County.
