Canyonlands Wildflower Photogallery

Southwestern Utah is known for red rocks and canyons. It's place names reflect the rugged landscape: The Maze, Island in the Sky, The Needles.

But journey to Canyonlands National Park and the surrounding area during a wet spring and you will find something else. The desert comes alive with color. Wildflowers bloom across the landscape: red hedgehogs, purple four o'clocks, white primroses.

Wildflower Photo

The year 1997 was unusally wet in the canyonlands, leading to this bounty of color.

If you can identify the unnamed flowers, drop us a note to billg@gorp.com.
