The Finest Dry Bags

David's Question:
What is the best large volume, low profile dry bag?

— David

Jonathan's Answer:
David, I have one word for you: Watershed. This Asheville, N.C. company makes the finest dry bags I've ever used. Unlike most bags, which are coated with PVC (polyvinyl chloride), Watershed's bags are coated with polyurethane, which is more durable and less toxic. It's also extremely hydrophobic — lift a Watershed bag out of the drink, give it a good shake, and it's nearly bone dry.

Watershed's dry bags are also radio-frequency welded rather than glued. But perhaps their best feature is the closure, a stout rubber Zip-Loc-type seal that simply doesn't leak.

Downsides? Just one: they are expensive. However, much of the initial expense is sure to be outweighed by the security and durability. Call them at (800) 811-8607.

For a super-quality dry bag in a more standard, roll-top style, try Ortlieb, who also make top-quality stuff, and much more than just dry bags. They also do panniers, messenger bags, water containers, and more. Their number is (253) 833-3939.
