Just short of Newport, our last town in Washington state, we zipped by a sign most of us had never seen before: "Slow — Rodeo Parade Ahead." How could we pass up an opportunity like this? Obviously we couldn't, and boy are we glad that we didn't. With its full complement of tractors, fire trucks, police vehicles, bluegrass bands, antique cars, rodeo queens and their practiced stiff-handed waves, horses, hillbillies, and candy thrown from EVERY vehicle, it was a sight to behold.
